After-Shave as a Primer?

After-Shave as a Primer?

You might not need to spend an arm, and a leg for primers anymore. The secret to a perfect makeup base could be hiding in your bathroom cabinet next to his razor.  If you guessed an after-shave product, you guessed right!

There are many beauty gurus raving over the Nivea Sensitive Post-Shave Balm. It’s crazy to see how it is becoming such a crazed product in the beauty world. Can a post-shave balm replace your expensive primer?

Well, I put it to the test to see if it holds up to Nikkie’s (Nikkie Tutorials) claims. Now, first thing you notice is the smell. It smells like the typical men after-shave scent. It is a fresh smell, but it is not your typical smell you find in makeup products.

I took a small amount into my hands, and applied it all over my face. With any product, you must let it sit on your skin so you are able to get the full effect before applying another. After allowing the post-shave balm to dry, apply your foundation as you normally would.

Now, the beauty of this product that it is effective for ALL skin types! This product soothes and calms dry, irritated skin. It provides hydration, and a smooth canvas for when you apply foundation. For people with combination to oily skin like myself, it does a phenomenal job of keeping your oils under control.

Now, you might be asking, “what makes this product work as a primer?”. That question is simply, glycerin. Glycerin is a humectant, which allows moisture to attract to the skin.

Possible down side to this product to some may be the smell. While it does have a manly smell, the scent fades while you are applying your makeup.

Overall, I rate this product a 10/10!
